Wellingborough Recycling Company

Parsons Consulting Engineers were engaged by a company in Wellingborough to help with a business critical project for the installation of a new process that produces recycled plastic from waste double glazing units. The project involved preparation of structural arrangements for two frames to support the process machinery and access platforms. As with many industrial / manufacturing projects the timeline for the design phase was extremely short and Parsons was selected because our approach demonstrated our flexibility and willingness to engage with the Clients inhouse team. We used our structural design software to prepare the arrangements and liaised with the Client’s European team members to ensure that the frames were suitable.

 The biggest challenge with the project has been restraining the process machinery, one of which imposes a dynamic load of 38-kN at a height of 7m. Additional bracing and strengthening has been included to minimise the vibrations generated.
