Grimsthorpe Castle
Parsons Consulting Engineers Ltd was appointed to provide structural design calculations for the proposed roof replacement at the historic Grimsthorpe Castle. The existing roof comprises primary and secondary lattice beams, which were previously assessed in 2014 and found unsuitable for supporting PV panels. In the current scheme, a new steel roof with tapered insulation is to be installed above the existing structure. Our assessment concluded that the existing framework is largely sufficient for the new loadings, with only minor stiffening likely required. A full calculation pack and construction drawings were prepared to support the project.
